Pagely Review

Pagely is one of a select few hosting providers that base their hosting solutions on Amazon’s cloud. If you’re looking for a low budget hosting solution, you should check out SiteGround, but if you’re looking for the best the market has to offer, then you’ve come to right place. With clients that include Visa, Disney and Time Inc, there is little doubt we’re looking at some serious hosting solutions.

They are the cream of the managed hosting industry but are they the number one Managed Hosting solution, as they claim to be? In this review will match them up against the best of the rest in performance, reliability, and support and see if they are just smoke and mirrors, are they actually are that good.

Back in 2006, Pagely looked at the hosting industry, specifically with WordPress sites. They made the prediction that WordPress was going to become more and more dominant and that they could be hosted better.

They actually redefined the hosting industry by inventing the Managed WordPress Hosting solution. It brought a product into the market that was customer focused and by being specific, they could look at really offering a great hosting solution by reducing the variables.

Pagely Features

Speed

The most practical component of performance is how quickly the website loads a page. Page load speed. Anything slower than 3 seconds is going to make you lose more than 40% of your visitors.

For a managed web service, you should be looking for better performance than a standard shared hosting would offer. You should be looking at anything quicker than 1.5 seconds, 1 second would represent an outstanding speed because it feels almost instantaneous to the user.

We subjected Pagely to our usual stringent testing and found that across different locations, it had an average speed of 0.78 seconds with all tests having results quicker than 1 seconds. That’s lightning fast. I’ve tested some dedicated servers that have a page load speed of 0.5 seconds, and they pack some serious hardware.

In practicalities, a page load speed less than 1 second is so fast, you shouldn’t need anything faster. Therefore, Pagely is as quick as you’ll ever need a host to be.

Reliability

The practical component we look at when judging the performance is chiefly uptime. Having a website down for an extended period of time is going to have a direct effect on the monetization of the website. Generally speaking, most hosting providers are pretty good but if you’re looking at Pagely as an option, pretty good is just not acceptable.

When we tested the reliability of Pagely, we found it had an uptime of 99.95% uptime. In practical terms, it means it goes down for 30 minutes or so, every year. Most companies can live with that.

We’ve checked user reviews too. Looking for themes related to uptime and customer support. Pagely customers are a happy bunch. I couldn’t find any problems, specifically, none related to uptime and it tells me that almost all their other customers have had the same experience as we have.

For reliability, just as with performance, Pagely delivers. All you could ask for and more. You can start to see why they manage to convert massive clients like Visa.

Customer Support

For start, you need to make sure you’ve got your gauged calibrated properly. Pagely is a managed WordPress service that means they are setup to deliver more service than you should expect from your average hosting package.

So how do they compare to other managed hosts? Pretty special, if truth be told. They have a chat system that operates during office hours but their ticketing system is 24/7. 97% of feedback relating to customer support is positive. Another impressive fact is that 81% of tickets created are resolved positively within 2 hours.

They are especially helpful with e-Commerce and managing thousands of product pages. They have the right philosophy, they try to go out of their way to over deliver. They are expensive when compared to other managed hosts. In fact, they are 5 times more expensive, but you get full value with this kind of level of customer support.

Conclusion

You have to start with pricing. Pagely is not for those on a budget. Prices start at $500 a month. Compared to WP Engine, that’s expensive but expensively is relative. If you run your business through your website, or your website is the actual business, making the extra investment is ultimately going to pay dividends.

As far as reviews go, this review is fairly full. They are excellent, near perfect in every category. Every test we’ve thrown at them they have excelled at.

When looking at performance, having it based on Amazon’s cloud service means the infrastructure is world class. In real terms that get translated into page load speeds of quicker than 1 second. Which is about as fast as you could ever need.

Where that starts to become important is on larger sites or sites with a lot of media. Using Amazon means you house of their CDN which has a massive effect on page speed when your page has lots of imagery and videos.

Reliability is equally impressive. 99.95% is all but 100% uptime, it will be offline so rarely, you’ll barely notice it. It’s difficult to get too excited because a lot of hosts offer top level reliability but you still need to tick the box and Pagely does that.

With Customer Service, because it’s a managed WordPress host service, your expectations should be high, but they are in top 5 hosting providers I have ever reviewed. They are easy to contact, have a lot of instant access information with their knowledge base and 4 out of 5 problems are resolved inside 2 hours.

They are one of the more expensive managed hosts I’ll compare. Are they X5 better than WP Engine or FlyWheel? (because they are comparatively X5 more expensive) that’s difficult for me to say. If you have a large website. A lot of traffic. It’s important website and security is essential such as a school or business where personal data is shared, I can start to make an argument for them.

Additionally, sometimes, you just want the best there is to offer. For peace of mind, so you know there’s not something more you could be doing to improve your business. And that’s what Pagely represent. Can you afford not to have the very best hosting? That’s a question that only you can answer.
